Mental Health Care

Your mental health is extremely important and one of the hardest things to do can be to ask for help.

Mental health is a major priority for us at Spring Farm Medical Centre. Anxiety and depression are common in Australia, and no one is free from life stress, whether it comes from family, work or other issues. Whether you are struggling because of a relationship breakdown, chronic pain, bullying, unemployment, substance use, domestic violence or another source of stress, come and talk to us. We will help you work out the way forward.

You may be living with another mental health condition, such as postnatal depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, a personality disorder or PTSD. These conditions need careful assessment and sometimes input from a psychiatrist (a medical doctor who specialises in mental health). We can help you navigate this process and get the treatment you need.

Through Medicare's Better Access initiative, your GP can prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan and refer you to a psychologist or other eligible mental health professional. Eligible patients can receive Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual and up to 10 group sessions per calendar year. If you would like a referral, just ask. Please let reception know when you book so we can allow enough time for your appointment.
